Dave is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and Certified Clinical Supervisor in the State of New Jersey. He holds a master’s degree in social work from Rutgers University. Dave discovered a passion to help people overcome and recover from substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders utilizing a client-centered approach to treatment. He has over 27 years of post-graduate direct practice experience. His vast clinical experience includes working with clients of diverse backgrounds and presenting problems in various levels of treatment services. In treating adolescents, adults, and families, he realized the significant impact trauma has on individuals and family systems. He saw the need to become an expert in treating trauma and other co-occurring mental health problems in order to help them heal and engage in a life of recovery and wellness.
As a Board-Certified Clinical Supervisor, he has decades of clinical and administrative leadership experience, helping clinicians learn and grow into effective agents of change and healing. In addition, he has spent years developing evidence-based client centered treatment programs for adolescents, adults, and their families. He is a professional presenter and educator for substance abuse counselors, social workers, and mental health clinicians. For over 10 years Dave was a part-time instructor in the Rutgers University Addiction Counselor Training Program, whose primary goal is to educate master’s-level clinicians that wish to prepare for dual licensure as social workers and substance abuse professionals. Prior to starting his higher education, Dave served six years in the United States Navy sharpening his leadership capabilities in high stress situations on both ship and shore duty.
